Tea dance

We're bringing back the tea dance. A Sunday afternoon inclusive disco – a space to move, rest, and celebrate being alive together. Beneath a disco ball, with music, herbal tea and room for all bodies and moods, we dance not as an escape from mortality but alongside it. 

There are no rules ot what we might play – from disco to techno to soul to jazz to bass, classical to shoe gaze – there are no rules, just whatever makes us feel and want to move. 

Tea dances incorporate simple ritual to remember death and reconnect us with life – and nothing is more alive than dancing. Our VIP guest is a piece of iron ore, formed from elements born in the cosmos and shaped over vast stretches of time, reminding us that we too are made of ancient matter, briefly assembled into our own wonderful forms. 

We start our dances with the invitation to remember one thing you are grateful to be alive for today, or even something your are sad about. If you like, dance with that, dance because of it, dance despite it. Because today you are alive and we are together.

Please note, Tea Dance makes space for all feelings. Joy, grief, laughter, awkwardness, awe... And all people. Bring it!

Tea Dance is not an escape from mortality, but a companion to it. Sometimes the most fitting response to death is to dance and to celebrate being alive together.

You do not need to be a “dancer”.
You do not need to be joyful.
You are welcome as you are.
